WHY VOTEupdated 23rd March 2010I stopped voting so why should you vote? Lets try you don't trust politicians remember the old joke, how can you tell when a politician is lying? answer = there lips move. Well if you don't like the things that happen around you and like me whinge and moan about it, then its time we did something.Yeah ok I hear you saying politicians they are all the same, I am disgusted by the sleaze and greed of our politicians.Barnsley central MP Eric Illsley has increased his expenses claim, yet again, to over £166,000 yes you read that correctly a jump of over £25,000 when the money he had to pay back last year is taken into account, making his claim now in excess of £3,000 per week.Surely this is wrong when other MP's even some ministers are claiming far less!I am unable to understand why they are incapable of admitting they dont know the answer to a question and often insist they know whats right for us while ignoring public opinion. Ok I admit that is a bit satirical so dont bombard me with emails claiming holier than thou intention. The fact of life is the majority of people do not vote in elections and when asked why ? its usually things like 'they are all the same' or 'nothing will change', hate to admit it but thats my view of the major parties as well. It does not matter what party it is common sense seems to have gone on a long holiday and cant even be bothered to send a 'wish you were here' postcard. So why vote independant, after the 2007 election a labour party councillor came up to me and said they did not understand the idea of being 'independent' must admit I felt sorry for her. Because she belongs to the 'party' they are restricted from free thought so if they dont like what the party tells them to do it takes a brave person to go against them.Vote Independent because they want to improve our town and dont run to the beck and call of party politics. |
